Precision Sheet Metal Fabrication, Machining, Finishing, and Assembly

How Automation is Revolutionizing High Volume Metal Parts

Technology is leading the way in the metal industry, and there’s no better example of this than in automation. Automation is not only revitalizing the way the metal industry operates, but it is revolutionizing the production of high volume metal parts. The manufacturing industry is expected to adopt robotic automation by an increase of 175% in the next decade. Here, we’ll investigate how automation is completely transforming the production of high volume metal parts.

The Benefits of Automation: Increased Efficiency, Scalability, and More

Automation can improve productivity and lead to significant advantages for high volume metal parts production. Let’s take a closer look at the benefits of using automation in your precision sheet metal fabrication.

More Consistent Parts

Automation leads to greater repeatability, which makes for more consistent parts. This is especially useful for high volume metal part production, because it leaves less room for variability among parts. More consistent parts means more reliability, ensuring that parts perform uniformly and as expected.

Better Quality Products

Automation reduces the frequency of human errors, leading to fewer replacements or reworks in your products. More consistency and quality in each product, which leads to increased customer satisfaction because the products are more reliable. Quality is invaluable, and automation ensures that each part exceeds expectations.

More Cost-Effective

Automation reduces the need for manual labor, as well as the need to spend money on replacement parts since errors are drastically reduced with automation. Automation also is incredibly efficient, which means that materials are not wasted as frequently, cutting down on those additional costs. Since automation gets your product to market faster, it is a cost-effective option because you can move your project forward quicker and then embark on your next project.

Better Scalability

Automated machinery with computerized systems are able to handle larger volumes of work. Without sacrificing quality or cost, automation can easily adjust production volume as demand increases. This makes for better scalability as these machines can handle high-volume production runs, ensuring that your inventory remains at satisfactory levels.

Faster Production

Automated machinery produces high volume metal parts at an incredibly fast speed. For example, utilizing the Amada ATC press brake sets up the machine quickly for the operator so it’s not a manual process anymore. This machine takes two minutes for set-up, while a human operator would typically take forty-five minutes for the same task.

How Metal Works Uses Automation for High Volume Metal Parts

Metal Works has a variety of high-quality automated equipment that allows us to produce world-class products. For instance, we have 2 fiber laser cutters that have automated load/unload systems. This means that they can load sheets of metal into the laser so we can run 24/7. This is a big advantage because the machines can keep running and cutting even while no one is here, leading to even greater efficiency.

We also utilize Bystronic 6K watt fiber lasers, which allow for ultimate precision. These machines are able to cut through stainless steel, aluminum, and other alloys, and can cut through these materials quickly and accurately. Also accompanied by load/unload systems, this equipment can run lights out, eliminating downtime and more efficiently crafting expert high volume metal parts.

Other innovative equipment includes our Amada punch presses, again built in with load/unload systems so they can work lights out punching material. In addition, our Amada robotic press brake is great for producing high volume metal parts. This machine has a cobot arm so that a worker can stack material next to it and the cobot arm will do all the work. It will pick the flat metal up, form them and stack them, making it an ideal choice for high volume production.
